Remember
The hysterical rhetoric of war is filling my ears. Like white noise - it's drowning out the aged voice of the man on the corner.
The streets are full of strangers and I wonder if today is the day I die.
My grandmother's grief for the loss of her soul mate stirs something within.
The still voice after the tempest. Warning. Reminding.
In that moment of quiet at 11am I finally make out the words:
"Lest we forget."
